ABSTRACT

Dr. Enrique Cárdenas de la Peña developed a brilliant medical career at the Mexican Institute of Social Security, but, his work as a writer and historian is similarly outstanding. A member of the Mexican Academy of the Language, he has written on such topics as literature, art and maritime history, and has penned biographies of physicians and important figures from Mexican history, universal history, the history of medicine, and institutions devoted to medical care. Dr. Cárdenas de la Peña is also a painter and poet, whose research and works are published in innumerable books.
