ABSTRACT

Dr. Fernando Martínez Cortés, a Mexican allergist who graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Mexico, has stood out, among other accomplishments, for his contributions to the analysis and conceptualization of the doctor-patient relationship from an anthropological perspective. Considered by many a humanist in the fullest sense of the term, he has been mentor to several generations thanks not only to his teachings and writings in books and articles, but also by example. Always congruent in his ideas, upon retiring he devoted his time to writing on, above all, the topic of clinical practice, a theme that motivates him to continue reflecting on medical ailments, clinical consultations and the human condition, topics that are explored throughout his written opus.
