ABSTRACT

These lines pay homage to the Mexican psychiatrist Ramón Parres Sáenz, from the state of Chiapas, who died in early 2009. A humanist physician with sensitivity to the arts, as a young man he became involved in the world of theater and literature. He began his studies at the Mexican School of Medicine upon his enrollment in 1938. His training, development and medical practice took place at Mexico City’s General Hospital, especially in Ward (Pabellón) 16 of the Neurology Clinic. He participated in the development of Neuropsychiatry and following the tenets of the Freudian school joined with colleagues to found the “Mexican Psychotherapy Group”, which later became the Psychoanalytic Association (1957).
