Dog bite: epidemiologic approach of injuries caused by a dog bite

ABSTRACT

The bites caused by dog are a public health problem at national level, the past eight years the tendency of suffering has remained constant, states with the highest incidence during 2007 were Durango, Hidalgo, Puebla, San Luis Potosi and Mexico City. It is clear that the incidence of dog bites has remained constant in recent years, but despite that has not diminished only exist morbidity reports that focuses on injuries, and the incidence of rabies in human transmitted by dog is nil, although there are states in which even been reported cases of canine rabies and that are within the first places in incidence by bite, is not reported rabies in humans, such as the State of Mexico I submit six cases of dogs with a positive laboratory diagnosis of rabies, with four Yucatan, Puebla with two, Chiapas and Veracruz with one in total for 2007 were 14 cases of canine rabies, also a cut in 2008 are preliminary nine cases have been reported in the states of Hidalgo, Puebla and Mexico State with two and Oaxaca, Sinaloa and Yucatan with one.
