Anorexia and bulimia nervosa. Odontologic aspects

ABSTRACT
These dysfunctions of the alimentary behavior escape every time with more frequency to the dental clinical exam; for the increase in the number of cases that at the present time are presented, it is imperative the knowledge and the training as for as this type of alimentary disorders of psychiatric nature they impact and they modify the routine dental practice from psychological aspects and the patient’s conduct, until specific clinical manifestations that suppose a reacondition of the preventive and therapeutic priorities in Dentistry. For the early age average in the one that these patients go to the dental consultation, the dentist plays an important list in the detection and opportune diagnosis of these sufferings that are usually managed belatedly later in the clinics psychiatric several years.
In this work a general bibliographical review of these two dysfunctions is presented, exposing general aspects of the syndrome and relative to the repercussion that they have in the teeth and other buccal tissues, like integral part of these dysfunctions and don’t like isolated entities, as well as the therapeutic resources that exist for its odontologic handling.
