ABSTRACT

The Escobar syndrome is a low common entity, therefore is not very known, since the most recent bibliography only reports 100 cases worldwide. This syndrome is synonymous to congenital Pterygium multiple, and is an autosomal recessive syndrome. The first descriptions of this syndrome were made on the beginning of last century by Bussiere and Frawley, however, it was on 1978 that Victor Escobar who studied and described this syndrome in a widest way «reason why is called as Escobar Syndrome». The diagnosis of this syndrome is not easy, and is frequently diagnosed as arthrogryposis, dysmorphic syndrome, dysmorphology syndrome, dwarfism among others. Hence the importance of description of this case.
