ABSTRACT

With the purpose to establish the prevalence of the oral histopathological findings for the region of the Bajio, Mexico, during a period of six years (August 90 trough December 96). Records of the studies by the author were reviewed in the University Department of Oral Pathology. During this study, 1,047 biopsies were done , with predominance of female and patients of 20-29 years old. Eighteen institutions participated and the Universities of the region provided 53% of it. Three hundred different lesions were diagnosed.The Chronic Periapical Granuloma was the lesion more frequent, also there was prevalence of odontogenic diseases. The malignant biopsies represented the 3.63% of the total, being epidermoid carcinoma the most frequent of all the malignancies.
