ABSTRACT

The concentration method for parasitological stool examination is an important part of the daily routine of any clinical laboratory in Mexico, but frequently it is poorly performed and with any internal quality control routine. Barriers to a good performance and good reasons to seek for excellency in this field are discussed.

Procedures for quality control to be done routinely are described. Those include double blind samples, double blind macroscopical workout, introducing blind certified negative samples and recording timing for each part of the procedure.
