ABSTRACT

Background: Thanks to the Company APERIO Technologies Inc. of California an experience of Robotic Telepathology in the Laboratories of Pathology of the Federal University of Sao Paulo Medicine Schoolalinmvzl, Brazil; the British Hospital of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the Institute of Pathology and Molecular Biology Arias Stella of Lima, Peru, have been carried out. Acted as coordinator and consultant Dr. Juan Rosai of the Consulenze Center of Anatomic Oncologic Pathology, Italian Diagnostic Center (CDI).
Methods: APERIO Company installed and trained for the handling of the equipment and maintained the SecondSlideTM,power station of data, operative.
Results: In a period of 5 months 69 cases were consulted.
Conclusions: The experiment “SecondSlideTM Pilot Project” of APERIO was successful and the experience gained provided the necessary knowledge required to make SecondSlideTM ready to operate worldwide.
