ABSTRACT

The laparoscopic approach for the cholecystectomy is nowadays the «gold standard» in most hospitals all over the world. Likewise, the vast majority of practicing surgeons frequently perform this surgical procedure. However, the surgical technique is not free of risks and difficulties that may translate in complications for the patient. This paper describes in a step-by-step fashion a standardized surgical technique with recommendations and suggestions developed by the authors along a longer than 15 years experience, that encompases the learnings of several thousands of laparoscopic cholecystectomies without incurring in any bile duct injury.
