Cystic adenomatoid malformations of lung. Are those associated to inhaled environmental pollutants?

ABSTRACT

This report describes three cases of newborns with adenomatoid malformation cystic (ACM) of lung born in 2008 in the hospital, with an annual frequency to 1/335 cases per year (expected 1/25,000), we tried to find the factors that increased the frequency from 80 to 100 times is more than we could waited, so we tried to determine whether environmental air pollutants may be related to ACM. We didn’t found a determinant risk factor, we only found in 2/3 patients with presence of breast silicone implant, we failed to associate the air contaminants with this increment in the frequency of ACM.
