Primary omental torsion. A rare cause of abdominal pain

ABSTRACT
The omental torsion is a rare cause of acute abdominal pain and clinically mimics acute appendicitis. In the medical literature of this country we able to collect sixteen cases, six of them were children.
Case report. A 16-year-old boy with symptoms and signs suggestive of appendicitis is reported. At laparotomy the omental volvulus was found and excision of the epiploic structure was done. The surgical finding is discussed and emphasis is done in the uncommon of this surgical entity.
