ABSTRACT

Consent through information is the patient’s right to autodetermination. It is also a legal and ethical requisite for the physician to act his prescription right. Information should include statements on the health situation, risks and benefits expected, nature of the proposal, possible complications and prognosis. Consent should agree with the patient’s situation and the proposed intervention, and should be obtained through a cordial and respectful dialogue which also enhance an adequate doctor-patient relation and provides a better quality medical care.
