ABSTRACT

The acute pulmonary embolism represents a dangerous condition with nonspecific clinical features that vary from severe to milder peripherals. The pulmonary embolism causes high morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients. The early diagnosis and treatment will be essential to a better clinical prognosis, knowledge of associated factors such as chest pain that may mimic an acute coronary syndrome, elevated troponin levels and the association of hypotension, respiratory failure and electrocardiographic right ventricular overload are of vital importance for this. The diagnosis of this condition can be difficult, pulmonary angiography is the gold standard, but the limitation to its use makes it difficult diagnosis, the advent of low molecular weight heparin prophylaxis decreased the incidence in hospitalized patients, but for those with the disease in the outpatient setting use of thrombolytic therapy in those stratified as severe or typical it is imperative for a more favorable prognosis. We talked about the rapid medical decisions based on evidence.
