ABSTRACT

Appendicitis is the most common cause of acute abdomen and the leading cause of emergency surgery worldwide.
The main complications are: infection, wound dehiscence, and residual abscesses. Several cases of hemoperitoneum associated with an appendectomy have been reported.
We report the case of a 15-year-old male, patient, who after an appendectomy developed postoperative low cardiac output syndrome. A hemoperitoneum was found. He had a favorable postoperative course. Currently he is in good health.
