Pleomorphic adenoma of left submandibular gland; a clinical case report

ABSTRACT

The pleomorphic adenoma is the most frequent benign tumor presented in the salivary gland, both major and minor of head and neck, the highest number of these cases occur in the parotid gland, then in the submandibular gland, and in less percentage in the sublingual gland. The clinical case of 23 year old woman is described, she presented an increased volume located below the angle of the jaw and in front of sternocleidomastoid muscle with one year of evolution, radiographic and clinical studies are realized, with a probable diagnosis of left submandibular gland lesion compatible with pleomorphic adenoma, is decided to perform excisional biopsy of lesion and the left submandibular gland affected; the lesion would be sent to histopathology, confirming the diagnosis.
