ABSTRACT

Ameloblastic carcinoma is classified in the group of malignant odontogenic tumors, being the malignant part of the solid multicyst ameloblastoma. There are few cases reported in literature. It can be defined as an odontogenic malignancy that combines the histological features of ameloblastoma with cytological atypia, which is locally invasive, its age appearance range is wide, it does not show any specific trend towards gender and its most frequent location is in the mandibular posterior body and ascending ramous. Treatment has to be aggressive and its prognosis is poor. We report a case of ameloblastic carcinoma treated by complete surgical excision and review of the literature about this subject.
