ABSTRACT
The chemical remove is an alternative of dental caries treatment, and in Mexico, there is a high prevalence of children with this disease.
Objective. To evaluate the chemio-mechanical technique(Papacarie®) for the caries remove in primary teeth.
Method. A clinical study was performed in twenty pediatric patients from three to eight years old, selecting two homologous teeth with caries of second grade by child applying two different methods: the chemical-mechanical with Papacarie® and the conventional technique with high speed. We evaluated the working time, the color and texture of the cavity and the perception of pain through the scales of Licker and CHIPPS.
Results. The average working time was greater for the chemical-mechanical technique (p‹0.01). There were no statistically significant differences at cavity characteristics. The perception of pain was higher for the high speed rotational technique. (p‹0.05)
Conclussions. The Papacarie® technique might be useful in pediatric dentistry so I showed to be effective for caries remove. The cases treated by the chemicalmechanique technique and, the patients showed a better behaviour. No matter that requires greater working time.
