ABSTRACT

For decades pits and groves have been sealed to prevent tooth demineralization and mainly to obliterate the groves, therefore, preventing the formation of biofilm which is what we know as decay.
With the application of bioactive materials we try to obliterate grooves, while at same time reactivate the materials with saliva or other mineralizing substance, to be absorbed by the dental structure.
In this article we will present a sealant, that once applied will allow us to diagnose the evolution or presence of the demineralization process. This will be achieved through the neutral characteristics of the surface, while using Diagnodent to monitor the formation of tooth decay under the sealant, which will allow dentists to practice carefully the technique of diminishing tooth decay. This is an important tool in the practice of minimally invasive dentistry.
