ABSTRACT
Hemostasis is a dynamic process by which coagulation occurs in tissues that have undergone vascular lesions. This process involved the interaction modulated by the platelets, and vascular wall, procoagulant plasma proteins and clotting. Platelet alterations may be quantitative (number) may be increased or decreased or qualitative alterations in the structure or in the storage granules of producing alterations in adhesion, aggregation or activation giving demonstrations as gingivorragias, petechiae in the skin and mucous membranes, epistaxis , ecchymosis, and hematomas that require our attention and it is necessary to identify and assist in diagnosis.
Objective: emphasize oral manifestations and stomatological management of platelet disorders (thrombocytopenia, thrombocythaemia).
Conclusions: the common denominator of the alterations trombopoyeticas is a hemorrhagic tendency that can be expressed by a gingivorragia, prolonged bleeding or to perform an extraction, or exfoliate a deciduous tooth, so that prevention, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment is essential to reduce complications that cause danger the patient’s life.
