ABSTRACT

With the recent increase in research and knowledge regarding the materials and techniques used in filling prepared cavities with resin, it has become evident that there are various factors that can contribute to the achievement of excellent results, and that there is a certain degree of difficulty involved in ensuring quality treatment.
Two terms related to resin fillings that have gained a significant amount of attention of late are stress and resin shrinkage; both terms are closely connected to what is known as the CFactor, that is, the cavity configuration factor. In this article, I will explain how to incorporate this element when applying a composite resin filling to a prepared cavity.
