ABSTRACT

The presence of supernumerar y teeth is frequently associated with the inclusion of neighboring teeth. The mesiodens is the most common cause of this problem, which is accompanied by esthetic and functional changes.
This article presents a clinical case involving a patient with a mesiodens that was impeding the eruption of the left upper central incisor, a case which was satisfactorily resolved. During the treatment an orthodontic technique was used to apply traction, following the fitting of brackets and an orthopedic device.
