ABSTRACT
Enough studies of standardize of the facial F- Wave nerve don’t exist. Objective: Facial F-Wave standardization and its prognosis value in facial palsy. Material and methods: The pilot study was performed in the Department of Electromyography, in the Service of Rehabilitation of the Hospital 1º de Octubre. A total of 30 subject were included, with ages 20 to 60 years, 15 clinically healthy and 15 with diagnostic of Facial Palsy. The used technique was described by Ishikawa et al. We formed two groups: Group 1, healthy volunteers, were registered the F Wave in bilateral form. Group 2, patient with facial palsy, were practiced the study F-Wave F two times. Results: In the group 1, the latency facial F- wave was of 14.0 ms ± 1.1 (SD). The difference interlard went smaller at 1 ms. The F-Wave frequency 70 to 90%. In the group 2, the latency was of 27 ms ± 2.5 (DS) the affected side. The F-Wave frequency 10 to 30%. In the subsequent evaluation the latencies and the frequency improved in a significant way p ‹ 0.01. The amplitude was not significant. The Mann-Whitney U and Kolmogorov-S. Test was chosen. Conclusion: It was possible to standardize the facial F- Wave in mexican population, this answer is not present the severe facial paralysis and is of value predictive for this pathology.REFERENCES
