Risk factors in patients with osteoporosis in the Centro Nacional de Rehabilitación

ABSTRACT

Fifty patients were classified in two groups one with osteoporosis and the other with no osteoporosis. A questionnaire and a bone densitometry analysis using a Hologic scanner were applied to both groups. The variables from both groups were correlated. The studied variables were: heredofamiliar anamnestics, age, weight, height, schooling, occupation, height loss, build, physical activity, time of physical activity, calcium chelators, personal pathological anamnestics, gynecobstetrics anamnestics and sign. The most significant variables according to the study were: heredofamilial anamnestics: 76%, risk of 36: 1 and significance of 0.000045; height loss: 48% risk of 36: 1 and significance of 0.001; physical activity during 30 minutes or less: 50%, risk of 9: 1 and significance of 0.008; slim build: 88%, risk of 15:1 and significance of 0.0005; pathological anamnestics: 48% risk of 3:1 and significance of 0.007; traumatic anamnestics: 76%, risk of 5:1 and significance of 0.004: gynecobstetrics anamnestics: early menopause 81%, risk de 20:1 and significance 0.0008 and gynecobstetrics surgical anamnestics: 81%, risk of 7:1 and a significance of 0.005.
