ABSTRACT

We present the case of a female patient with terminal renal failure, which attended the emergency department because of an episode of complete AV heart block associated to severe hyperkalemia. She required urgent management of the cardiac electric disturbance, as well as immediate management of the electrolyte disorder that caused it. We briefly discuss the management of cardiac rhythm disturbances associated to hyperkalemia, as well as indications for urgent hemodialysis in cases of severe hyperkalemia.
