ABSTRACT

Leiomyomas are the most common tumors of the uterus, leiomyomas occasionally recur and rarely metastasize, leiomyomas of uncertain behavior are rare. It is reported four cases of bulky tumors of the uterus smooth muscle: one with ascites and one with great malaise of the patient, the initial diagnosis was assumed that three of them ovarian cancer and another was sarcoma cancer. The larger diameter of bulky tumors measured between 4.0 and 11.5 cm and weights ranged between 2,100 and 1,000 g, in all cases it was possible surgical tumor resection with hysterectomy in one case there was a bowel resection and partial bladder, as these parties were very attached to the tumor. The pathological report ruled out malignancy, and the diagnosis was leiomyomas. The evolution of the patients was satisfactory, without complications, and they remain in control and have had no signs of tumor activity.
