ABSTRACT

The interest on the study and the treatment of the fractures of the distal radius (FDR) is increased day to day due to its incidence, today method of election for its treatment, is the internal fixation through a palmar approach to with a locked plate of fixed angle and subcondral bony graft, technique that allows the early rehabilitation of the patients. Apparently the handling of this fracture in particular has been played down, being able even to say itself on its handling, that this standardized and is no great discussion on the election of the methods. Nevertheless a revision of the complications of the present treatment of these fractures indicates the opposite to us. The complications in the FRD treatment can be acute or delayed and in agreement with the anatomy; in soft parts and bony parts, being in its great majority easily prevenibles, if the suitable measures are taken in time. Edema and the bad technique of application of the bandages its present in almost all the complications that involve the soft parts. With respect to the conditions that originate complications in the bony parts, they stand out, the insufficient reduction, the inadequate election of implants, the boarding and a disorderly surgical technique. The beginning of the rehabilitation of the hand is fundamental for a good functional result as soon as it is possible to avoid prolonged incapacities.
