ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the response of canalith repositioning maneuver comparing to treatment with cynarizine.
Material and methods: At Centro Medico Nacional 20 de Noviembre, from January 2003 to February 2007, patients were randomly assigned in two groups: the first group included patients treated with canalith repositioning maneuver, and second group included those treated with cynarizine 75 mg oral per day).
Results: 58 patients were included; 26 in the first group and 32 in the second. In the first group, 81% of patients got better just after a week compared to 50% of patients in the second group. None of the patients in the first group had a relapse; but in cynarizine group there were four relapses and three patients with headache.
Conclusion: There were better outcomes in canalith repositioning maneuver group than in cynarizine group.
