Myoepithelioma of palate. Case report

ABSTRACT

Myoepithelioma is a benign neoplasm of the salivary gland. It consist of cell islands or cords with myoepithelial differentiation which can present different types of cellular differentiation: plasmacytoid, epithelial, spindle or clear cell morphology. Most common on the fourth decade of life and non gender preference. It represents less than 1% of all salivary glands neoplasias examined.Myoepithelioma described in scientific literature are of benign behavior. The aim of this study is to report the case of a 64 years old male patient who presented a lesion in the lower posterior region of the hard palate, for which a plasmocytoid myoepithelioma histopatological diagnosis was emitted.
