Key words:

Positrons Emission Tomography (PET), Computed Tomography, imaging.

ABSTRACT

Background: Positrons Emission Tomography (PET) provides images and allows qualitatively studying and even measuring and quanti- fying several biochemical processes in terms of radiation drug used. Computed Tomography images (CT), has some limitations as the differentiation between tumoral or fibrotic tissue as a consequence of surgical treatment.
Conclusion: PET/CT is a technology continuously evolving-New designs, faster mechanisms, with higher detection power, scintillation crystals with better physical characteristics are expected.
