ABSTRACT

Ear malformations with external auditory canal atresia are a challenge for otologists and plastic surgeons to perform aesthetic and functional reconstruction in cases with unilateral alterations. The reason is that the recurrence of the stenosis is frequent, even though there are techniques for the external auditory canal reconstruction. We present five male six-year-old and twelve-year-old children with unilateral microtia II A who had preoperative tomography, pre and postoperative audiometric study in order to carry out functional repair in accordance with Jahrsdoerfer’s qualification, forming the external auditory canal with prepuce full-thickness graft, because of its anatomic tubular structure and its own histological features. Follow-up was carried out six months later, with satisfactory results regarding complete graft integration without stenosis and an auditive gain of 30 decibels, without complications.
