ABSTRACT

Objective. Presents a rare case of eosinophilic cystitis in a pediatric patient, since the initial phase until the acute. Also a review of the literature.
Materials and Methods. Male from 5 years and 5 months with past history of retroperitoneal lymphangioma (at one year of age) and haematuria. The initial ultrasound shows a normal bladder wall that subsequently shows thickening, increase in the wall vascularity and presence of clots and echoes inside. The kidneys initially showed heterogeneity in its parenchyma that subsequently formed echogenic injuries that suggest focal areas of bleeding. The patient required medical and surgical treatment.
Result. After surgical treatment with hemostasis of sites of bleeding was obtained the histopathologic diagnosis of eosinophilic cystitis.
Conclusion. The eosinophilic cystitis is a rare entity and even more in the pediatric age, but must be taken in mind in cases of haematuria and in intravesical pseudotumoral injuries, where the image studies are essential for its characterization and follow-up.
