ABSTRACT

Objective. Presentation of a patient with bending of the common bile duct after liver transplantation, with emphasis on their radiological characteristics and literature review.
Methods: 5 years male with arcuation of the common bile duct as a rare complication of liver transplantation. The diagnosis was conducted with ultrasound in grey scale and Doppler color and was confirmed by CT multi-slice.
Result. The bending of the bile duct after the transplant was not suspected clinically; however, was discovered after control ultrasound and diagnosed since the first day after the transplant. The patient elevation of the bilirubin and clinical manifestations to the third day, justified the surgical intervention.
Conclusion. The bending of the bile duct, due to its length, is also cause of obstruction of the biliary tract. Nevertheless, it does not appear in the literature as part of the complications of the bile duct in children who underwent liver transplantation. We believe that this phenomenon must be taking into account when conducting control Doppler studies subsequent to transplantation.
