ABSTRACT
Anterior crossbite is one of the three main types of malocclusion in children. It is important to focus on the prevention, early detection and treatment of such disorders as they can affect the proper development of the stomatognathic system. In this case report, inverted nickel-chromium crowns are used simultaneously in upper anterior teeth with a fixed appliance containing S-shaped springs to correct the anterior crossbite of a 3-year-8-month-old patient, achieving immediate results following the placement of the crowns. Furthermore, by using the fixed appliance, the malocclusion was entirely corrected within a month of its being fitted.
The use of inverted crowns to correct crossbite offers several advantages, such as ease of installation, low cost, swift orthodontic movements and successful treatment, together with the fact that no damage is caused to oral tissue and the level of patient acceptance is good. Furthermore, the simultaneous use of a fixed appliance provides for successful treatment in less time.
