ABSTRACT

Orthodontics in special patients interacts with the medicine, because the orthodontic treatment is performed in these patients should be more effective and to take a minimum risk in general. There are a lot of systemic diseases; the most frequent are diabetes, heart disease, renal failure, hypertension, lung disorders, language delay, autism, immune disorders, Down syndrome and allergies. In medicine and dentistry has repeatedly mentioned problem-oriented approach in the diagnosis and treatment planning as a way to overcome this tendency and just to focus only on one part of the patient’s problem. It is necessary to obtain a detailed medical and dental history of orthodontic patients to know their overall situation and assess specific aspects related to the orthodontics. Conclusions: Patients who suffer from a systemic disorder are more prone to complications during orthodontic treatment, can successfully complete but subject to control these disorders. It is important to recognize that to make a treatment plan are necessary the patient’s views and observations of the doctor.
