ABSTRACT

The esophageal rupture is a rare disease and represents a challenge for clinicians, is presented in various forms, up to 50% of cases may be asymptomatic or atypical, this situation arises from the need to identify patients with risk factors for presentation, for example: patients with a recent endoscopic procedure or vomiting associated with significant symptoms. The morbidity and mortality is largely related to time of evolution, which requires to reach the diagnosis as soon as possible to reduce the disastrous consequences that entails. Also, the treatment you choose depends on the location of the injury, time of evolution and the accompanying pollution, the scheme is a proposed clinical approach to simplify the decision to take in such difficult cases.
