ABSTRACT

Palatal fistulas are the primary palate plasty sequel in patients with cleft lip and palate. These patients also show the crack, an anteroposterior maxillary hypoplasia and often medial collapse of the fragments. The conventional closure of large palatal fistula by palatal flaps retraction causes, emphasizing the collapse and hypoplasia. A greater number of failed interventions to close the large fistulas are more constraints to growth and sometimes leave less tissue available for subsequent conventional closure. The flap base language above is an option for closing large palatal fistulas in patients with a history of failures for closure or those whose residual palatal tissues allow a conventional closure.
