gliofibroma, astrocytoma, pediatric brain tumor.

ABSTRACT

The gliofibroma is an infrequent and peculiar glio-mesenchymal neoplasia. Most cases develop in children. We report our experience with a 7 year-old girl who presented with a right thalamus-mesencephalic tumor. The histologic and immunohistochemical studies revealed an intermixing of the two components of this neoplasia. The lesion followed a progressive course. The gliofibroma should be added to the group of biphasic neoplasms of the central nervous system.
