ABSTRACT

The analysis of the social networks allows determining the relationships of collaboration established in any organizational structure. An information source like the Revista Cubana de Ciencia Agrícola can be studied to determine that type of relationship among their authors. This is the more important scientific publication edited by the Instituto de Ciencia Animal; their frequency is quarterly. With the aim to identify the most prominent authors as regards cooperation and exchange of information and knowledge and the most frequent relationships of collaboration, the 361 articles published by the journal between 1999 and 2007 were studied. Microsoft Office Excel 2007 was used to register and to normalize data; Ucinet, for the matrix analysis, and NetDraw, to represent the social networks. The characterization of the most outstanding authors with regard to the cooperation in the journal and their collaboration relationships allowed to identify collaboration fronts of collaboration and the exchange of the information/knowledge, what, without doubts, it will facilitate the understanding of the changes that the organization should be carried out to improve their access to this essential input of the activity of all modern organization.
