Use of Low Power Infrared Laser (LPIRL) and topical pyridone for the treatment of hypertrophic surgical scars: A case report

ABSTRACT
Patient with sequels of burns of the second degree in 28% of body surface, it involves the function of the right hand and in the left elbow, 4 years of evolution. Enters the 02/06/2009, recounts impede for the mobility of the hands in flexion and the closing of the same ones as well as for the thin tweezer. At the examination scar in back of the right hand 20 x 8 cm, and in dorsal face of left forearm 16 cm, range of motion limited; treatment is applied with Infrared Laser 40 J, 20,000 Hz, 300 mW, pressure, massage, stretching, to the twelfth week it is added Ultrasound 1.5 W/cm2, 1 MHz, 50%, and hackneyed piridone 2 times per day, per 28 weeks. It is gone away by managing in domicile by exercises, stretching, pressure and hackneyed piridone 2 times per day. At the 19/10/2010 is obtained complete range of motion, muscular force 5/5; scar in back of the right hand 13 x 5 cm, and in dorsal face of left forearm 5 x 5 cm, function 100%. It is gone away from the service by improvement.
