ABSTRACT

Plantar fibromatosis or Ledderhose’s disease, is a benign hyperproliferative, condition of the plantar fascia of unknown cause, most prevalent in middle-aged men, but can occur at any age. It is characterized by local proliferation of abnormal fibrous tissue, usually in the mid-and forefoot region, unilaterally. Although the cause is unknown, it has been established some association with repeated trauma, diabetes, dyslipidemia, epilepsy and 13% there is family history. We present the case of a 48 years old woman and we made brief review of the literature.
