ABSTRACT

The use of the chin cup in the treatment of class III skeletal is very controversial. Due to its action as it may cause problems in the temporomandibular joint. The chin cup is used in patient's with Class III prognathism to change the direction of growth of the mandible, and stimulate the growth of the jaw. This may improve the patient's facial profile and dental relations.
The report of this case is a patient with Class III, age 11 years, treated with chin cup for a period of 2 years. In this period of time the patient had a peak of growth. In fact the patient grew 15 cm in height.
