ABSTRACT

Acute epiglottitis is a rare condition nowadays; it affects mainly pediatric population; however, we see that the incidence in adults has increased in recent years. The clinical presentation in adults differs from children because the anatomy of the hypopharyngeal-laryngeal region is larger in the first ones, so the management of the airway is more conservative in some situations. The purpose of this report is to present the case of an adult with acute necrotizing epiglottitis, a rare clinical form with rapid progression that put in danger the patient’s life.
