ABSTRACT
Lingual thyroid is a congenital disorder of thyroid gland development, resulting of abnormal migration of the gland from the foramen caecum to its normal pretracheal location. In this paper we report a patient who presented a lesion located in the base of the tongue suggesting an ectopic thyroid that produced dysphagia and dysphonia. We discuss the different treatment recommended in the management of this pathology.
