Comparison of the Mayoral cross-sectional analysis with a population of Nayarit

ABSTRACT

It was a descriptive research, observational and transversal study in 500 models prior to orthodontic treatment, for patients registered from 2000 to 2010 in the Posgrade Orthodontic Clinic of the Academic Unit of Dentistry, Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit, which were measured in transverse distances between the first premolars, second premolars and first molars, with an electronic caliper, according to the benchmarks established by Mayoral. There were also gender and age. The statistical analysis was used a t test, where p=›.05 found a statistically significant difference between the population and the measures introduced by the author referred. It was noted that the transversal dimensions of dental arch in the females are smaller, and in males, higher than those reported by Mayoral. No differences were found in relation to age.
