ABSTRACT

The determine the efficacy of treatment with magnetic fields in patients with osteoarthrosis. In an observational study with thirty-four patients diagnosed with osteoarthrosis being treated in t[he National Center for Pain Control and Palliative Care, we created an instrument to collect data about the patients and their evolution during the Magnetotherapy treatment. All the patients signed the Informed Consent. Eighty-eight-point-two percent of the sample showed a reduction in the pain. Of the entire group, seventy-percent were between sixty and seventynine years old. As for the sleepping pattern, ninety-four-pointfour percent showed extreme improvement. There is a high percentage of patients with osteoarthrosis that showed a decrease in their pain level with the treatment of pulsated magnetic fields. Another important fact was that after the beginning of the regimen, the patients indicated that they had their sleeping pattern improved. These characteristics of the group were consistent with the universal literature. Magnetotherapy, osteoarthrosis, sleep, pain, Visual Analogue Scale.
