ABSTRACT

We introduce the abdominometer (template designed for the sketching of an abdominoplasty). Made in acrylic in the shape of an isosceles triangle, measuring 12 cm at it’s base, a top curvature with a maximum height of 2.5 cm, and two mobile strips of 20 cm on each side. This allows for precise and easy drawing of the natural form of the pubis and for the lateral incisions that are required in each case. The latter allowed us to obtain symmetrical incisions in form, length and at the same height. This device was used on 95 female patients with an age range of 27-55 years. It was found that in all cases this procedure was easy, fast and accurate; obtaining excellent results in the majority of the cases. Only a few required minor alterations that corrected themselves spontaneously with time.
