ABSTRACT

To observe a phenomenon for the first time is not equivalent to understanding it. J.N. Eberle, in 1834 observed the capacity of the pancreas to digest fast, but he did not pay attention to his observation. In 1848, C. Bernard sees the same phenomenon and grasps immediately its consequences for the knowledge of the physiology of digestion. The true discover is the one that understands the phenomenon and makes it comprehensible to others
