ABSTRACT

The familiarization of the managers with the conduction of research studies on health systems and services contributes to implement and use their results for decision-making. A descriptive study was carried out to identify to which extent the nursing managers at the research institutes of the capital of the country are familiarized with the health systems and services research. To this end, a survey was administered, which included the following variables: knowledge on health system and service research, conduction of research projects dealing with these topics, dissemination of results, decision-making and implementation of the said results. The results of the present study showed the predominance of the clinical research in these centers, as well as the poor familiarization of nursing managers there with the health system and service research, with a view to making their decisions. It is possible that this element is having an effect on the low percentages of these types of studies in the above-mentioned institutions.
