ABSTRACT

Currently, the emergence of synthetic biology has allowed the synthesis of genomic sequences and the creation of the first artificial cell. The sequencing of the genome of Mycoplasma genitalium, and determination of minimum genes essential for bacterial replication, managed the creation of an artificial chromosome coincident with this bacterium, which contained all wild genes except MG408, which was interrupted for blocking its pathogenicity, therefore, M. genitalium grew slowly, by its rapid rate of growth, they sequenced the genome of Mycoplasma mycoides, a prelude to the design, synthesis and assembly of the genome of M. mycoides from digitized information of genomic sequence, and subsequent transplantation into the host cell Mycoplasma capricolum, creating a cell controlled by an artificial genome assembled in the laboratory.
